Author Guidelines

1. Aims and Scope

The Lao Journal of Mathematics Education Research (LJMER) publishes original, high-quality research in the field of mathematics education. The journal welcomes empirical, theoretical, and methodological studies that contribute to the advancement of mathematics teaching and learning at all educational levels.

2. Types of Manuscripts

LJMER accepts the following types of manuscripts:

• Original Research Articles

• Review Articles

• Theoretical or Conceptual Papers

• Short Research Reports

• Classroom-Based, Lesson study or Action Research

3. Language

Manuscripts must be written in the Lao language or English.
Authors whose first language is not English are strongly encouraged to have their manuscripts proofread by a professional language editor before submission.

4. Submission of Manuscripts

Manuscripts must be submitted electronically through the journal’s online submission system at https://ljmer.edu.la/index.php/ljmer or via the official journal email at ljmer@ljmer.edu.la

Submissions must not have been:

• Previously published

• Simultaneously submitted to another journal

5. Manuscript Preparation

5.1 General Formatting

• File format: Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx)

• Font: Times New Roman, Phetsarath OT

• Font size: 12 pt

• Line spacing: 1.15

• Page size: A4

• Margins: 2.5 cm on all sides

• Page numbers: bottom center

5.2 Structure of the Manuscript

5.3 Title Page (Submitted Separately)

To ensure a double-blind peer review, authors must submit a separate title page containing:

• Manuscript title

• Full names of all authors

• Institutional affiliations

• ORCID iDs (if available)

• Corresponding author’s email address

5.4 Abstract and Keywords

• Abstract length: 150–250 words

• Abstract should clearly state:

  • Purpose of the study

  • Methodology

  • Key findings

  • Significance of the research

• Keywords: 3–5 keywords, separated by commas

6. Tables and Figures

• Tables and figures must be numbered consecutively

• Each table and figure must have a clear title and source

• Figures should be of high resolution

• Tables and figures must be referenced in the text

7. Referencing Style

LJMER uses the APA (7th Edition) referencing style.

• All in-text citations must appear in the reference list

• All references must be accurate and complete

• DOI numbers should be included where available

8. Ethical Considerations

Authors must comply with the journal’s Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement (COPE-aligned).

• Research involving human participants must indicate ethical approval and informed consent

• Authors must disclose any conflicts of interest

• All sources must be properly cited to avoid plagiarism

9. Plagiarism Policy

All manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection software.

• Manuscripts with excessive similarity or unethical overlap will be rejected

• Self-plagiarism is not permitted

• The acceptable similarity index should normally not exceed 15–20%, excluding references

10. Peer Review Process

LJMER operates a double-blind peer review process.

• Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent reviewers

• Editorial decisions include:

  • Accept

  • Minor revision

  • Major revision

  • Reject

Authors must address reviewers’ comments clearly and resubmit within the specified timeframe.

11. Authorship Criteria

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made substantial intellectual contributions to the study.

All authors must:

• Approve the final manuscript

• Agree to submission and publication

• Take responsibility for the content

Changes to authorship after submission require written consent from all authors.

12. Copyright and Open Access

LJMER publishes articles under an open-access model.

• Authors retain copyright

• Articles may be freely accessed and distributed with proper citation

• Licensing terms will be specified on the journal website

13. Article Processing Charges (APCs)

Information regarding article processing charges (if any) will be clearly stated on the journal website.
LJMER is committed to transparency and affordability for authors.

14. Post-Publication Issues

Authors are expected to cooperate in cases requiring:

• Corrections

• Retractions

• Clarifications

Such actions will be taken following COPE guidelines.
